Bodies are Awesome

The body is an amazing thing.
When you fall and scratch you knee, the blood immediately starts to coagulate and form a scab. Pretty awesome huh?

Same thing kinda starts to happen when you work out.
If you're just starting out a new workout routine, that's like the scratch. (a good scratch of course!) Your muscles are being worked and if you work hard enough, you'll be sore. The more you keep doing the same things over and over, that's when that scab starts to form.
Your body becomes accustomed to what you do and that's when you start to hit that plateau. (you know what I'm talking about)

When that happens, you need to 'shock' your body.
In other words, change it up.

As a personal trainer, that's my goal with all my clients. Get them working and just as they're about comfortable with their routine... BAM change it up.

That's the key to getting the most our of your workouts.

*Nutrition Tip: You need to eat within an hour of working out. Your muscles just worked like crazy and now they need to be able recover and build themselves back up so they can recover and ready to go again soon.

So It Begins

As I start my journey as a personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness, I plan to document my journey here. I'm still going through school, and I hope to be able to look back on this and see where I once was.

I'll be posting tips about fitness and nutrition on here as well as "a-ha!" moments, so bear with me. :)

Also, I know since I'll have such a HUGE following (HA right...) if any of you have any questions, feel free to ask them in a comment and I'll do my best to answer them! :)

As far as right now, here goes.

Did you know that they key to success in any fitness goal is nutrition?
60-80% of your success or failure will depend on what you eat.

To simplify things; if you consume less than you burn, you'll lose weight. If you consume more calories than you burn, you'll gain weight. Now, it is a little more complicated than that if you take into account the glycemic index and such, but I won't get into that today.
